Time flies; already it’s been five years since CILO City Lounge first opened its glass doors. The extremely relaxed restaurant and lounge was a hit from day one, not only because of its perfect location on the corner of the Renaissance Marketplace downtown overlooking the harbor, but also because of its trendy menu, its great cocktails, fresh fruit mojitos and superb lunch options.

The week at CILO is always filled with activities: there are Happy Hours on Wednesdays (9 – 10 pm) and Fridays (5 – 6 pm), there is live music on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, while it is Tapas Night on Thursday evenings. CILO is great for an early breakfast, as it opens at 7 am; closing time is at 1 am. It is also a wonderful, central location for power lunches and other business meetings.

In the past five years, lots of great staffers have come and gone: some to go back to Holland, some to finish their studies abroad, others to start a new career elsewhere. But a few, very loyal staffers have stayed, and it would be nice to mention their names in this article. Long-standing and much-appreciated CILO staffers are Mina (assistant cook), Denise (chef de partie), Roxanna (cook) and Sander (chef), while manager Mijke came to work at `her’ restaurant 4,5 years ago.

During the month of August, CILO will host a number of fun events, celebrating its fifth anniversary in style. So keep your eyes peeled and check FB regularly for the restaurant’s festive schedule.  Pabien, CILO!
