ORANJESTAD — The nights sky was alight with color and drama beginning at sundown on December 31, but the truly dramatic displays took over after midnight, as resorts sponsored professional pyrotechnics to officially welcome the new year.

Traditionally, one of the most memorable is the Renaissance show over Oranjestad Harbor, creating a memorable tableau. This year, the spanking new Ritz-Carlton also welcomed 2014 with a spectacular display over Palm Beach.

Whether in the streets of the capital or observing from a hotel room, regular visitors can confirm that Aruba is a very special place to spend New Year’s…and not only because you don’t have to nearly freeze to death waiting for a ball to drop in Times Square. Happy New Year to all from us and wishing you all things wonderful in 2014!
