Sarah-Quita, Aruba’s world champion windsurfer, recently paid a courtesy visit to the office of Minister of Sports and Health, Richard Visser where the two met and discussed various matters related to her successful career in the world of windsurfing.

Sarah-Quita is one of Aruba’s jewels who do much to promote the island. Her image in promoting Aruba with her many achievements is priceless and very unique.

The Minister had many words of praise for her valuable contribution to the island and for her inspiration for other young people.

There are Aruban youngsters who are making their name in other sports, such as BMX, synchronized swimming, baseball, etc. Now, for the first time, Aruba has the possibility to classify for Olympic Games.

According to Visser, this is indicative of the improvement we have made in the field of sports during the past years.

Sarah-Quita is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Holland. She maintains her sport at a high level and is still in the NUMBER ONE position in the Freestyle of windsurfing in the world. In April she is expected to complete her education, then to take a break to continue with her Master’s degree.

Sarah-Quita has just returned from Fuente Ventura in the Canary Islands where she won for the sixth time. The first time she won a competition was there when she was 15 years of age.

In September she is expected to compete in Holland, after which she will be off to Turkey to compete.

She claims that her studies help her mentally making her more alert. Because I study so much, she said, I often go into the water well motivated to do even better.

Education and sports must be well balanced, she says. After her bachelor’s she will be taking a break to train again, she indicated. We are all proud of your girl, keep up the excellent work!
