The Travelife Gold award was honored to Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa just during the month of January 2013. Travelife is a travel industry-led organization, where tour operators in Europe and accommodation providers are committed to providing holidaymakers with more sustainable hotels. They work in partnership to protect the environment and the well-being of people, including their staff, customers and suppliers, and so making a big contribution to sustainable tourism.
“We are very excited to have achieved this award” says Edgar Roelofs – the resort’s general manager. “Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa already has been part of the Green Globe Certification Program since 2003 with a Green Globe Gold Certificate and it is an honor that we achieved the Travelife Gold status during our first audit” he adds.
Lidia Halley, environmental coordinator at the resort, mentions that the resort has met all Travelife requirements, displays a strong commitment to sustainability and constantly looks for new opportunities for improvement of the hotel’s environmental and social performance. Travelife International Certification helps hotels to improve how they manage their environmental and social impacts, such as the way their energy or water consumption, or how they treat the people they employ or the local community where they operate.
