McHappy Day, McDonald’s signature fundraising event, will celebrate its 3rd year donating all proceeds of Big Mac profits to the FAA on Friday, November 14. The campaign had its biggest ever record breaking last year, raising Awg 14,309.30 for FAA – surpassing the target to become the most successful fundraising result in McDonald’s history in Aruba.

“McHappy Day is the most important time of the year where we raise funds for the FAA and where we can use the funds raised to help our children and their families through their difficult times at the FAA. We hope that the public of Aruba will surpass the amount raised last year”, said Fabian Lantinga, Operations Supervisor for Arcos Dorados Aruba.

McDonald’s 3 restaurants in Aruba – Palm Beach, Seroe Blanco and Santa Cruz – are now promoting McHappy Day with sale of Awg.1.00 paper ‘helping hands’ and will dedicate a day’s worth of their signature Big Mac sandwich sales to the FAA.

“Giving back to the community is one of McDonald’s founding principles and a core value – it’s a commitment we take seriously. This year we want McHappy Day to make another truly significant donation to FAA. We call on people all across the country to come to any of our restaurants and take part in this positive initiative” said Fabian. “We recognize the incredibly valuable work that the FAA does for Aruba children and our communities, and we are proud to be able to support them in their efforts,” Fabian added.

McHappy Day is a global event in which millions are generated annually through McDonald’s restaurants across the globe for charities that focus on children. McHappy Day is the major annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), and other children’s nonprofit organizations that are benefactors of McDonald’s choice. Arcos Dorados, the operator of McDonald’s restaurants in Aruba and throughout the region, generated almost US$14 million for worthy charities in 2013 through its McHappy Day activities.

McHappy Day ambassadors including local celebrities, athletes, charity endorsers and musicians will be volunteering; in store activities and live entertainment are also expected as McHappy Day is celebrated until closing hours at all McDonald’s restaurants in the island. This year’s confirmed McHappy Day ambassador is Ms. Rona Coster.
