Preparing for the eighth Aruba International Regatta (AIR)

The regatta village will be set up at Surfside Beach, next to the airport, to ensure entertainment and a spectacular view on the races. More than 40 sailing races will take place in the waters of Oranjestad Harbor on August 20 and 21 from 9 AM until 5 PM.

The Aruba International Regatta is not only an event for the participants in the races: the regatta village is a gathering point for people who want to enjoy a view of the races or have a relaxed afternoon on the beach in regatta-mood.

Last year the Aruba Regatta Foundation received a silver award from the Sailors for the Sea – Clean Regatta’s campaign. This year’s edition will be dedicated to the Sustainable Sailing campaign and the regatta will host a coral reef awareness campaign.

The regatta organization has invited the American marine biologist Mike Gil (https://sciall.org/) to engage the Aruban community in a discussion on the role we can play in the conservation of our coral reef systems and our marine ecosystems. Mike Gil will give a public lecture in the aula of the University of Aruba on Thursday, August 18 at 7 PM and he will be on Surfside Beach on both racing days to share his insights and passions for marine biodiversity.

All events and races take place at Surfside Beach. Together with sponsors like Studio Advisory, SON, Tranquilo charters, Power Systems, ASD, ADCTRA, Zenitel, ISC, ISS, Budget Marine and with the support of the Dutch Marines this year’s regatta will surely be an event you shouldn’t miss! Most participants are ready for the races and a number of international competitors have confirmed their participation. You can pre-register via our contact form or call (+)297 5656887.
