Two years ago at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships (CCCAN) in Puerto Rico Kyra was crowned champion in the category 12 yrs and under in synchronized swimming. This time in Costa Rica she did it again, but in the 13 -15yrs category. But not only did she take gold in the technical routine but she also took gold in her solo presentation.
Since the end of last year Kyra has been residing in Walnut Creek, California. This step was taken for her to be able to develop in her sport of synchronized swimming. Notwithstanding the little time Kyra has trained with the Walnut Creek Aquanuts the achievements of Kyra are outstanding. In the US she has competed in various regional championships where her progress was noticeable. In April Kyra competed with her team and won silver in the team event at the U.S Nationals Synchro Swimming Championships.
A total of 14 soloists coming from 9 different countries competed for the maximum title including Aruba’s Kyra Hoevertsz. Her main opponent was Venezuela’s Lilia Nuñez, but Kyra showed superiority among her opponents in her category.
Not only did Kyra surpass Venezuela’s Nuñez in the figures category, but also in the solos with a nearly three point difference. Kyra finished with a total of 135.215 points and Lilia with 132.862 points. Curaçao’s Shelby Kasse finished third with a total of 130.646 points.
Aruba can be proud 2 gold medals from Kyra Hoevertsz.
