Softball has always been a favorite sport on Aruba, but what has changed in recent years is that there is also a grand interest in the sport by females. Our female team has just returned from the Bahamas where they won the necessary games against the islands to obtain the title of Champions of the Caribbean. This team is now poised for the famous World Series Fast Pitch Softball in the USA. Here they will not just represent their island, but the entire Caribbean.
The government had many words of praise for our female softball team and for their tremendous performance in the Bahamas. All the players are highly motivated and are eager to do their utmost in the upcoming games in the USA.
The team was assured that they will receive a complete program of training planned by CEMEDAR consisting of medical professionals and top scientists in sports medicine. The complete team will also receive top sport training on technicality as well as psychological, medical and emotional preparation.
According to the Minister of Sports, …”we will give the team all the needed support so that they can put their maximum potential to work for them. We want to position our team among the top 10 in the world. If we achieve this, we will put our seal on fast pitch feminine softball, which will be something very great for Aruba, which we can continue building on.”
Reportedly, this year we broke all records with donations to the various foundations. For the first time in the history of Aruban sports, we donated 4.5 million Florins to local sports. This has resulted in a positive growth in the various branches of sports.
This particular team boasts a group of girls who are very fit and in excellent physical condition, not over weight, like some of the team mates of the other islands. Some of the members began playing at the early ages of 6 and 9 years. Hence, they are well-experienced. Now, with excellent coaching, technical input, and guidance by CEMEDAR, Aruba can only expect the best from them at the World Series.
