Internet users around the world are preparing to participate in the fifth edition of the largest photo contest in the world, Wiki Loves Monuments 2014. Every year there are thousands of participants from dozens of different countries who upload their photographs of historical monuments and cultural heritage, in order to show the world their heritage … and try to win attractive prizes.
This year, Aruba will be participating for the second year with over forty other countries in this competition. A national Aruban monuments photography contest organized by Stichting Monumentenfonds Aruba will be held through the month of September.
Each country will be organizing its own National competition between September 1st and 30th.
This year there is only 1 category: Aruban Monuments.
To upload pictures participant must visit the Facebook page of Stichting Monumentenfonds Aruba, like the page and follow the instructions.
The photograph must not be taken in September but must be uploaded during this month; the participant must be the author of the image he is participating with and by participating will give the authorization for the photography to be used by internet users through Wikipedia.
The jury will decide the winners. This year there will be attractive prizes from our sponsors: Colombian Emerald, Insel Air, La Cabana Beach Resort and Casino , Red Sail Sports, Pelican Adventures and Islander Grill Restaurant.
Wiki Loves Monuments is an international photography competition about monuments created in the Netherlands in 2010. The 2011 competition, organized across Europe, entered the Guinness Book of Records as the largest photo contest in the world. In 2013, the competition expanded to 52 countries around the world and beats its own record with over 370 000 photos posted online.
