ORANJESTAD — What could possibly make a massive beach event featuring great island bands, internationally famous DJ’s and inexpensive food and drink even better? It was free!!
For the fourth time, Balashi Brewery hosted their now annual Chill Flip Flop Party, this time dubbed “Let’s Get Wild Edition,” at what now appears to be its permanent home, Nikky Beach, on the eastern end of Oranjestad. The event has grown and evolved from the first time it was conducted to introduce Balashi Chill to Aruba, and become a greatly anticipated event on the official Carnival calendar.
Great Carnival bands such as Youth Xtreme, BMW, Duro and Upgrade Music generated the carnival atmosphere, interspersed with a continuous stream of carnival favorites from the past played by top local DJ’s
Lasting from noon on Sunday until 10:00 PM, Chill Flip Flop Party finished with featured celebrity DJ Quintino. The event attracted a diverse audience. Families enjoyed the day at one of Aruba’s most attractive beaches, and then it turned into a smoking hot night spot once the sun went down.
An open invitation from the organizers to all boats from the region to come moor in the Surfside bay and enjoy the ambiance, received enthusiastic response. Each year, the Flip Flop party has grown in scope and length, to become one of the major events on Aruba’s annual entertainment calendar.
