The Old Cunucu House-still one of the most charming dining options on Aruba The Old Cunucu House in Palm Beach was one of the first restaurants on the island to offer their patrons an authentic taste of Aruban cuisine along with a tempting continental menu, many years ago. Sometimes we tend to forget the old favorites, as there is always some new eatery cropping up, but The Old Cunucu House has maintained a loyal following for a very good reason, and if you have never tried it before, it is most definitely worth a visit.
One of the most pleasant attributes of this charming, native restaurant is the location, it is tucked away in a delightfully tranquil corner of Palm Beach; close to the major resorts, it is about a half hour walk through pleasant surroundings, and takes one away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip. The quiet while dining al fresco on their lovely landscaped terrace is almost tangible.
The 150-year-old landmark farmhouse also offers air-conditioned seating in the incredibly quaint interior, where it is easily possible to enjoy a private section for your group. A very moderately priced menu rewards diners with extremely ample portions featuring the freshest of fish from local waters and famed Aruban specialties, such as Keshi Yena, Carbrito Stoba, Aruban Meze, a mix of favorite Aruban snacks enough for 4 to share, or authentic seafood soup.
The menu is punctuated by some very tempting and elegant dishes, such as a very generous portion of Roast Rack of Lamb Rosemary at a price well, WELL below the competition; definitely a good deal. All main courses are garnished with authentic island side dishes such as funchi and banana hasa. The Old Cunucu House is part of the Aruba Gastronomic Association Dine-Around plan for additional savings, but we think you will be more than satisfied with your meal and the check when it is done.
